Baldwin's plans for 2010: Wave Energy Drinks has provided what Tommy Baldwin said is enough for "14 fully funded races" in which not only does Tommy Baldwin Racing hope to qualify the #36 Chevy but do more than merely run a few laps and park it. Baldwin said he has enough funding lined up to do so in at least 10 other races as well -- and even plans to run a second car in "13 or 14 events" with Johnny Sauter as driver of the #35 car. Baldwin made the switch to Chevys after running Toyotas last year. The cars also will be powered this year by Earnhardt Ganassi Racing engines.(NASCAR.com)(2-6-2010)

Geoff Bodine hope to run some NASCAR races in 2010: Geoff Bodine came up two laps short of potentially winning the inaugural Free State 500 stock car race at the Phakisa Freeway Circuit in South Africa on Sunday. Bodine, who started on the pole, was leading when his Chevy ran out of fuel with two laps remaining. Bodine, who led the most laps at 89, was credited with ninth in the American Speed Association-sanctioned event. Bodine's good run has given the 60-year-old more incentive to want to return to racing. "I wish I could get the opportunity to do some more (NASCAR) racing," Bodine said. Bodine had hoped to get a ride for Saturday's Budweiser Shootout at Daytona International Speedway, but nothing materialized. He did hook up with NASCAR Camping World Truck Series owner Danny Gill in South Africa and Gill may put Bodine in one of his trucks for the race at Atlanta Motor Speedway on March 6. Bodine said he also is working on a deal to run in NASCAR'S All-Star race at Charlotte Motor Speedway in May, and working on a Sprint Cup deal for the second race at the Atlanta track on Sept. 5.(Elmira Star Gazette)(2-4-2010)
#36 team names crew chief: Tommy Baldwin Racing (TBR) announced that Kevin Buskirk will serve as the crew chief for the #36 Chevy driven by Mike Bliss. “I’m excited to have Kevin Buskirk on board as he brings a lot of experience to the race team,” said team owner Tommy Baldwin. “It’s nice to have someone I have full confidence in working on the #36. Now I can relax a little on the car side of things and shift more of my focus to building the Tommy Baldwin Racing business.” Buskirk most recently served as crew chief for the #19 Richard Petty Motorsports car driven by Elliot Sadler in 2009. Buskirk is a NASCAR team veteran and also has previous experience with Robert Yates Racing, Richard Childress Racing and Dale Earnhardt, Inc.
